pick 6 « Result #4 Today at 2:05am »
Can any one catch the leader, maybe not but we have to try. The picks are going to get tougher now. Teams that are out of it now would like nothing better than to beat a contender. So those teams play harder and the better teams sometime look past these teams making it a trap game. Then there are the injuries and the players playing with the minor bumps and bruises that don't let a player play up to his full game potential . Then you have to make sure you have a pick or two different than the leaders.
Woody already posted his at the end of the week 13 thread, so I hope I'm able to make this post and start the thread for next week's entries. (So, "those would go here".)

Re: Sarge's Weekly Touchdown! « Result #10 Yesterday at 7:04pm »
Not a bad weekend winning you all the big bucks! Especially in the college games!
I went 2-2 in the NFL circuit winning with Denver and the Giants. I did lose with Baltimore and Houston who I thought would outright win and didnt. The 2-2 mark leaves me 22-19 for the NFL for the year.
I managed a perfect 3-0 in the NCAA though! I won with Oregon, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech! The perfect mark leaves me 25-21 for the year!
Going to grab one bowl game now though! Look forward to Boise State plus seven over TCU! Looking at a outright win but easily can cover this spread of unbeatens!

Russell has to be gone after this year. Not sure of their cap situation and how big of a hit russell would be but they will either cut him March first or june or july first when they can split the cap hit between 2010 and 2011 seasons.

As a Penn State fan, I was surprised their name and JoePa didnt get them into the BCS. I would have loved to play Georgia Tech and that triple option just to see what JoePa could do against it on a months preparation! But the BCS actually got this right in selecting Iowa who beat Penn State. Of course they got so much wrong this year that its hard to praise them for a minor correct move of Penn State!
Thought the BCS was meant to reward strength of schedules. So instead of picking Cincy who played four ranked teams, it picks Texas who played two ranked teams?? This is all BS! Tired of it all....
Once again NCAA Football is the only business out there that blatantly denies its customers what they want and demand literally rubs it in our noses just laughing at people like the Rattler! But hey...we keep supporting it, sending them our money, and tv ratings! Gotta love it!
I want to see how long McDonalds would stay in business if we drove up to every drive through and ordered a Big Mac and instead got Old Fish Filet that was cooked the day before! That's what the NCAA is giving us!

Well I think if you put pressure on a qb, any qb is prone to bad decisions. That said, Brady missng two of his best offensive linemen have hurt and brought on that pressure. He also for some points didnt look comfortable back there and seemed to be stepping back instead of forward on his passes. That could be due to his injury or due to that line or both. He isnt the same and I didnt expect him to be back until next year after all those major knee surgeries he had.
The Pats have the best team in the AFC East and will win the division. They have four very winnable games left. But make no mistake even when/if they win those last four games, they are NOT winning a super bowl this year.

according to the bcs standings TCU should be playing Cincinnati and Florida should be playing Boise State. Those crooked s o bs that are running the bcs don't want to give TCU or Boise State a chance to prove how good they are. Teams 1 &2, 7 & 8 , 9 & 10 are all playing each other . What happened to 3 & 4 , and 5 & 6. They have 3 playing 5 and 4 playing 6. It just goes to show you its all about the money and not the quality of the teams according to the bcs standing.

We all know the pats have some problems on defense, but what about the offense. Brady is not getting the protection he is used to. To add to that Brady seam to be making some bad decisions. At some points he seams to be making mistakes you would see from a rookie not a seasoned pro. They have to turn it around in a hurry or go home early again this year.

NFL: Current picture and a BIG game Monday night « Result #20 on Dec 6, 2009, 10:44pm »
AFC EAST: New England 7-5, Miami and the Jets 6-6 (as both make up a game on New England). New England split with both teams, but Miami swept the Jets. Miami will have the best divisional record of the three unless the Patriots win the last divisional game of the year against Buffalo, in which case the Pats and Miami will be tied.
AFC NORTH: Cincinnati 9-3, Baltimore 6-5 (playing Monday), Pittsburgh 6-6 Cincinnati has swept the division and owns all tiebreakers. A Green Bay win Monday puts Cincinnati's magic number for the division at one.
AFC SOUTH: Indianapolis 12-0. Clinched division last week. For 16-0: Home to Denver, at Jacksonville, home to the Jets, at Buffalo. It's there, but, again, IF THEY WANT IT.
AFC WEST: San Diego 9-3, Denver 8-4. The two teams split their regular season series. Denver must win their two remaining divisional games (one each with Oakland and KC) to tie the division record at 5-1.
HFA: 1. Indianapolis 12-0 2. San Diego and Cincinnati 9-3 4. New England 7-5 (out of home field advantage) Magic number for HFA for Indy is two. None of the three top AFC teams have played each other, but San Diego and Cincinnati play week 15 out west.
WILD CARDS:
Denver is 8-4, so they get one.
The second one depends on what happens Monday, as Baltimore needs that win to go to 7-5 and match Jacksonville, who is 7-5 already. Those two teams do not play each other. If the Packers win Monday, Jacksonville is 7-5 alone, as has the second spot outright to this point.
----------
NFC EAST: Dallas and Philadelphia both 8-4, New York Giants 7-5. Dallas won the first meeting with Philadelphia, but the second is the final week of the regular season in Texas. The Giants have swept the Cowboys and lost to Philadelphia in the first meeting. Their second meeting is next Sunday night.
NFC NORTH: Minnesota 10-2, Green Bay 7-4 (playing Monday). Minnesota swept Green Bay, and could've clinched the division with a win and a Packer loss. Still, their magic number is two for the division.
NFC SOUTH: New Orleans 12-0. Clinched division this week. For 16-0: at Atlanta, home to Dallas and Tampa, at Carolina. Easier road than the Colts.
NFC WEST: Arizona 8-4, the Niners and Seahawks 5-7. Niners beat Arizona in their first meeting, they play again on MNF next week. Arizona has swept Seattle. Magic number for the division is two (technically one, next week -- a win over the Niners eliminates all remaining contenders for the division).
HFA: 1. New Orleans 12-0 2. Minnesota 10-2 3. Dallas/Philly and Arizona at 8-4 Arizona played neither of the NFC East teams.
WILDCARDS: The second-place team in the NFC East is 8-4. That's one spot.
The question now is what happens Monday. If the Packers win, they're also 8-4 and a game clear of all competition for the wildcard. If the Ravens win, the Pack go to 7-5 and have the Giants to deal with. It looks right now that it will be those four teams for the NFC East title, one wildcard out of the NFC East, and the other wildcard being either Green Bay or the third team out of the NFC East.

I don't think anyone's moving up this week. Just a guess...
Unofficial, only with stuff on the board (and the top 29 from Ed's post), EH not on this list because he e-mails his picks (again, all legal to do so), you know the drill by now...
I TAKE IT BACK!!! PastorJohnT has a full card this week!!! CHI, CIN, IND, DEN, NO, SD. So I add him to the list, with my unofficial information to place him.
Congratulations, further down the standings, go to davidneal944, who went 6-0 with CIN, NO, CHI, SD, DEN, CAR.
Those are the only two full cards on the board. Between Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and New England, that pretty much creamed the rest of them.

... but about the best they could've done. The top 10 teams in the nation, for the first time, all play in the BCS.
Alabama-Texas for the title.
TCU-Boise in the Fiesta for the "People's Game".
Cincy gets served to Florida in the Sugar.
You knew about Ohio State vs. Oregon since last Thursday night in the Rose Bowl.
And the one spot where I got wrong was that they picked the H2H winner between the two Big 10 teams in consideration, Iowa, to face Georgia Tech in the Orange.

Week 13: at ARI 30-17 Loss, now 10-2 « Result #24 on Dec 6, 2009, 8:54pm »
Plain and simple tonight they just came out and played perfect. If the Cardinals play like this all the time they would be the same record the saints are right now. They were the better team and deserved to win.
Again, I said last week that we are entering our toughest Stretch of the season, If we just make it out above .500 then, It's a win. we're 0-1 to start this tough 5 game stretch, and it's ok cuz we are still 2.5 up in the division and Green Bay has yet to play. The only down side is that it looks like the saints may get homefield after all. Yes that game today against the Redskins was A PHENOMINAL Game, watched it and it was awesome! But they are still 12-0 and look "Healthy"..... we do not look healthy, we had both our Tackles go down at one point, Cedric Griffin got banged up and E.J. Is out for the season. we arn't lookin very strong coming down the stretch Health wise.
A.P. has been a non factor all season long, i don't even know if he played tonight? was that him whereing #28? i mean honestly he deserves all the bashing in the world, the guy is not getting the Job done and he has just looked awfull this entire season.
We play Cincinnatti next week, luckily it's at home because if we played thier... we may have had no chance. But at least we have a shot next week. Go Ravens tommarrow and go falcons for next week. hopefully we come out as winners next week and show up with some energy. peace

Eagles Crush Atlanta! « Result #25 on Dec 6, 2009, 8:21pm »
Tough to be excited about beating a team without their starting qb and star RB. But we played without our best WR and Westbrook and it was Vicks return to atlanta. It held some meaning...
Classy move by reid naming Vick a game captain. Best game so far by Vick with him throwing 2 for 2 with a TD, 4 rushes, and another TD.
26 rushes although 6 were by QBs was a nice balance. All in all a solid game from all I read. Didnt get to see the game as I was instead watching detroit and cincy as the local game!
On the road, I had this game down as a loss so this makes up for the Oakland loss that I had as a win. 3rd win in a row. I thought we would be better as the season went on and are right where we need to be.

Tough loss. A friend of mine flew from ohio to jersey to watch this game with his son. It was both of their first games ever seeing dallas play. First NFL game period. he was born and raised in Texas Tech territory and works with me at the AFB. Bought their tix off stubhub and flew in. Texted him and he says they both had a great weekend in NYC but the game was brutal.

Brutal loss and those Raiders keep winning when they arent supposed to. Russell is being shown for the scrub he is!
As for Pittsburgh, their offensive line isnt as intimidating as in previous years. Even last years line was the reason they won. The loss of Hair Polamalu hurt but cant be used in this case. But Holmes didnt progress further.
This seems to be simply a case of super bowl hangover and teams getting up for the super bowl champ!

OK everybody if we want this sight to continue to be around we have to put more into it. Hats off to the sarge, rattler and the rev for keeping this sight going for so long. From what i can see they put allot of hours into it. There are a few others who do allot of posting. I won't name any of them you know who you are. Hats off to you to. But for the rest of us {myself included} we have got to pick it up. I know not everyone has allot of time but I think we can do better. I know I am not real good at putting things into words sometimes but I try. I see by the way allot of you are making you're picks this year you all have allot of sports knowledge. Lets share some of it and get some good threads going. If anyone takes any offense to this let me know I can take the criticism and I don't mean to offend anyone. Just trying to help make this a better sight.

CHARGERS - no way in hell they should lose to the browns BENGALS- with Cedric back dont see them losing to 2 crap teams in Oakland and Detroit SAINTS - skins have good pass defense but i believe brees threw for 300+ and some 4 something TDs against the Gmen in earlier matchup STEELERS - been pretty up and down up dont see them losing to raiders at heinz field BEARS - same as steelers dont see them losing to crap team at home, although they have been shaky EAGLES - if Turner doesnt play...and matt ryan isnt playing dont think a team that barely got by Tampa Bay last week will beat this eagles team (even without westbrook)

That offensive pass interference call is still awful, Seattle had a rough day against the Steelers that day.
I hope Indy keeps playing, they do rest in the last few weeks then come out flat after the bye. Rest during the bye week and keep playing until you win the last game.
Favre looked bad trying to make the tackle on the second runback against Pittsburgh in their only loss. Them and the Saints would be a classic game.
The AFC is stronger than the NFC but the top two NFC teams are two of the three best in football. I picked Philly to win it all and they would be part of the teams that are staring at a huge gap between them and the Vikings and Saints.

Brick Pick Six Top 30 Standings after 12 weeks! « Result #70 on Dec 5, 2009, 1:45am »
Ok....time at last for the standings! Sorry about the delay!
People who enter new are officially eliminated from the championship! Still can enter and get ready for next year! I play for fun!
The standings are decided by total perfect weeks, total wins, best won/loss percentage, and then if still tied we go to a sudden death playoff through each round of the playoffs until a clear winner.
An "*" denotes number of perfect weeks. An "!" denotes player was a previous years BP6 champion so look out! An "#" denotes person can not win this contest due to affiliation with Fox Sports or this website and is only playing for fun! As always email me direct at stfsergeanted@yahoo.com if you think I made an error anywhere. Thanks!

First I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and made it back ok! Sorry for the delay but between work and Thanksgiving, it couldnt be helped. Gonna catch up tonight before I get to sleep cause I am working again saturday. At least the OT is nice!
We had 101 people play this week! Slightly up from last week. Amazing thing is, the average person went 6-0 this week! Yes, 61 of the 101 who played went 6-0! Might be a first! Great job by all! The games that tripped up the most people were the Giants and Miami upsets. If you avoided them, your odds were high on a 6-0 week!
As usual, I do my best but I am human and have made mistakes. I appreciate your help in double checking my work. If you think I made a mistake, please email me direct at stfsergeanted@yahoo.com so I can look into it and make corrections if needed. Thanks!

Running way behind with work and the holidays. Putting in OT to write our next proposal at work to make sure I still have a job! Those annual proposals are a bear!
But no excuses.... Maybe JT can make this a paid position?? LOL
We had only 96 people play this week. Surprising considering we still dont have a clear cut winner. Nor is anyone eliminated yet. This week Cincy's and Pittsburghs loss cost the most people! Still we managed to have four people go a perfect 6-0! Not bad at all! Still the average person averaged only a 4-2 score showing many people took BOTH Pitt and Cincy!
As always I am human and do make mistakes. Last week I made an error on the pittsburgh-cincy game so you will see some corrections on that in the standings. So if you see a mistake, please email me direct at stfsergeanted@yahoo.com

I here ya on the tiger story. Leave it alone , It's his personal life. The faster they move on to something else the better I will feal.
Can you imagine if the nets go half the season without a win. The fans and the players will have to start wearing bags over their heads. I would hate to be the first team to loose to them

parity in the NFL « Result #78 on Dec 4, 2009, 12:24pm »
What happened to parity in the NFL. Seems to have blown up in there faces. At the top end the superior teams led by Indianapolis, Minnesota and New Orleans are far Superior to most of the league. On the bottom led by Tampa Bay, Cleveland and St. Louis are more like college teams. Is the talent pool that watered down by to many teams or is it just bad coaching or players just not putting their all into it.

Tiger Woods.... « Result #86 on Dec 4, 2009, 12:08am »
Ah! The story that never ends and will overtake the airwaves for the next two weeks....
What do I care if Tiger had affairs outside his marriage? It doesn't affect me in the least and to be honest, it's football season unless the ass clowns have forgotten...
Tiger didn't kill anybody, he didn't rape anybody he didn't drink and drive....
When Charles Barkley got busted for a DUI and bragged to the cops who was with him then everybody thought it was cute and funny but "HELLO!"
Barkley is married as well and nobody said anything about that...
I just wish all this madness would end with the talk show hosts and talk about more important things...
For instance..
When will the New Jersey Nets win their first game???
